ABSTRACT

In modem usage, regression methods are methods for finding the parameters of some stochastic model relating a dependent variable to one or more independent variables. The term simple regression refers to regression procedures involving one independent variable, while multiple regression refers to procedures involving more than one independent variable. In both simple and multiple regression, B0 represents the average of the dependent variable for individuals with scores of zero on all independent variables in the model. In multiple regression, there are two or more B’s of interest, and the interpretation of a particular B reflects the fact that there are other independent variables in the model. Thus the inclusion of another variable in the model changes the interpretation of the parameters for variables already in the model.
