ABSTRACT

Many vendors have developed standardized management reports. These reports usually provide information on number of books supplied within a given period, list and net prices, and appropriate performance statistics. Online access by libraries to vendor’s files opens a new realm of possibilities for management information. Not only can librarians request a broader range of reports, but in addition such reports can be more directly tailored to the users’ needs. The advent of vendor automation made possible a range of status and management reports common to the industry. Many vendors have also developed standardized management reports. These reports usually provide information on number of books supplied within a given period, list and net prices, and appropriate performance statistics. Dramatic change continues to confront the academy, and librarians are compelled to address an increasingly fragmented world. Tight budgets, price increases for traditional materials and demand for many new formats make the task of library acquisitions an ever more difficult one.
