ABSTRACT
We have seen all of the elements of immune responses, but have had only glimpses of the immune system “in action.” A detailed discussion of current knowledge concerning immune resistance to infection and malignancy would require an entire textbook to itself. Here we attempt to synthesize what has come before, solidify basic concepts, and discuss fundamentals of resistance to infectious and neoplastic disease.
