ABSTRACT

This study seeks to analyze the efficiency level of seven metal and mineral mining companies in Indonesia during the period of 2013-2017. Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) method was employed in this study to estimate the technical efficiency score and their relationship with input, explanatory, and output variables. The results showed that overall, metal and mineral mining companies in Indonesia had been efficient with an average technical efficiency score of 0.8635, and the most prominent variables were cost of revenue, operating expense, and total equity. Based on the ownership concentration of the companies, metal and mineral mining companies owned by private sector were more efficient than metal and mineral mining companies owned by the Indonesian Government.
