ABSTRACT
World class manufacturers practice Lean throughout their facility, through their suppliers’ facilities, and with everyone who handles the component products in the entire supply chain. Zero defects are the standard, not the exception. Lean is a wonderful idea that is helping businesses throughout the world. Workers adopting the Lean mentality are a critical factor in solving the problem of eliminating non-value–added tasks and movements. As of May 2017, Mifune had one employee who has worked for 827 consecutive days without producing one defect. At 250 working days per year, that equates to 3.3 years without a defect. Remember, at Mifune a scratch on a part is considered a defect even though the part will be powder coated. Imagine how wonderful it would be to be a customer of Mifune.
