ABSTRACT
In Ukraine, there are 16 149 bridges on public roads out of which 35% are surveyed and the survey data are introduced in the database. Since 2004, the works on the development of the Analytical Expert Bridge Management System of Ukraine have been carried out. The system was implemented in 2006. The purpose of the system is to issue the recommendations on the bridges operation strategy taking into account their technical state and funds for bridges repairs. This paper outlines the experience of implementing the AESUM, the functional characteristics of the system, and the ways of its further development. The attention is paid to such areas of research as expert assessment of the bridge, the degradation model of the bridges elements, the model for determining the cost of operational measures at the network level, developing the strategy to optimize the bridges operation.
