ABSTRACT

An informal but forthright examination is made of recent changes in the cataloguing of serials, and an assessment made of the usefulness of the changes from the point of view both of the librarian and of the library user. COM catalogues and other alternatives to the conventional catalog are discussed, as are OCLC serials control and the uses of MARC and CONSER. Suggestions are made concerning the overall effectiveness of AACR2 serials cataloguing.
