ABSTRACT

Copy cataloguing procedures similar to those used to catalogue monographs, utilizing bibliographic information available on OCLC data base, can also be used for serials. This paper describes the University of Illinois experience of cataloguing serials from OCLC copy and discusses the use of support staff to do so. It further describes the conversion of existing cataloguing on OCLC to AACR2, with data presented to document the actual amount of revision involved since the Illinois adoption of AACR2 cataloguing rules on November 1, 1979.
