ABSTRACT

The Ad Hoc Committee on Union Lists of Serials is an American Library Association (ALA) Committee that was created in January 1980 at ALA’s Mid-Winter Conference. The charge of the Committee will result in a publication dealing with the procedures and methods used in creating and producing a union list of serials. The publication will appear in the ALA Guidelines series. This paper describes the history of the Committee, the work that has been accomplished thus far on its upcoming publication, including some of the major points of discussion pertaining to union lists of serials, and some possibilities that are seen for future action by the Committee.
