ABSTRACT

The race to publish is important to both clinicians and scientists. The changes and developments in medicine are frequent and often dramatic. Patients demand the best in treatment and knowing the most recent information is essential to the physician. Since the first journal containing medical papers, the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, was begun in 1665, the journal has been the best method for transmitting the newest information to a wide audience. Today, electronic versions of journals give added efficiency and speed.
