ABSTRACT
This chapter defines what values determine whether something is news; defines the different types of stories that newsrooms cover, how they make those coverage decisions; and explains where newsrooms get their news and how news people come up with story ideas. The chapter also goes into how newsrooms handle, discuss and arrange news coverage internally.
