ABSTRACT

Library catalogers call computer software “machine-readable data files,” and then define these as computer programs designed to be inserted and run on a computer. The computer software being discussed is for microcomputers only. Catalogers do not include as ‘‘machine-readable data files” (or mrdf) the single purpose gameboards with built in programs. Thus, for a cataloger, a hand-held calculator, computer football game, or a programmed chess or checkers set would not be considered a “machine-readable data file.”
