ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the emergence, growth and development of the Church of Pentecost, a worldwide Pentecostal Church, with its headquarters in Ghana. The Church of Pentecost is a reminiscence of a new era of African Christianity, where African Initiated Churches contribute to national development through their self-supporting efforts. The chapter shows that the church is making meaningful contributions to enhance not only the spiritual needs of the people but holistic aspects of both personal and societal development including empowerment, good governance, poverty alleviation, and accountability.
