ABSTRACT

In 1989, a major evaluation was undertaken of the reference services offered at Milner Library, Illinois State University (ISU). ISU is a multipurpose university of more than 22,000 students that offers 191 degree programs in 33 academic departments organized into five colleges. Library services are centralized at Milner Library in five subject divisions: Education/Psychology/Teaching Materials Center, General Information and Reference, Social Sciences/Business, Science/Government Publications, and Humanities/Special Collections. The five divisions are staffed by 20 members of the library faculty, 19 classified employees, and student assistants.
