ABSTRACT
The pathologic changes that occur in the arthritic joint result in disability and clinical signs of pain. It is a complex condition involving multiple biochemical and biomechanical interactions (30). Often termed DJD, OA can be classified by the joint involved and whether it is primary or secondary. It appears to be mechanically driven but chemically mediated, with endogenous attempts at aberrant repair.
