ABSTRACT
Reflection on the eventuation of chickens from eggs, butterflies from chrysalises, or on the other repeating sequences in which the circumambience infinitely abounds, leads to the belief that every existence has an immortal identity. The word nowadays is “mutation” and the study of biological innovation has shifted its focus from the readily observable “form” to the molecular gene and its cellular environment. The free society is a society of hazard, of insecurity, struggling to maintain and enlarge the union of the diverse which it constitutes by enabling unlike and like freely to come and go yet hold together amid a circumambience of configurations. Freedom of conscience, freedom of thought, of expression and communications, freedom of assembly, of protest, of demand for change, were first invoked, then misused, then contained by the freedom of enterprise with its ruthless competition practiced by the diversity of humans who came to be named capitalists.
