ABSTRACT

Data presenting movement of turtles (Jammalamadaka and Sen Gupta 2001) span full circle while long axis orientation of fled spar laths spreads over semicircles. Taking the above as the hint, wrapped exponentiated inverted Weibull and wrapped new Weibull – Pareto distributions are fitted for first data set, whereas stereographic semicircular exponentiated inverted Weibull distribution and stereographic semicircular new Weibull – Pareto distribution are fitted for the other data set using the ML method.

Kuiper’s and Watson’s tests are used to verify goodness of fit and found the pairs of models considered for respective data sets are good fits. Hence, to choose the better model between the pairs of good fits — MLL, AIC, BIC — the model-discriminating procedures are applied and conclusions drawn.
