ABSTRACT

Metastatic deposits are the hallmark of disseminated malignancy. They are in one sense diagnostic of advanced malignancy but at the same time a diagnostic conundrum. Perhaps the most common presentation of a malignant disease is pain or dysfunction resulting from metastases. As they may develop in many locations the effects on the patient are extremely variable. As a result patients may present to almost any medical or paramedical practice and metastases are often confused with other diseases.
