ABSTRACT

The liver is the most common site of metastatic disease of epithelial tumors, the primary sites being predominantly in the colon, the breast, the lung, the pancreas, and the stomach (1) . Only infiltration of regional lymph nodes occur more frequently. The true prevalence of metastastic liver disease is unknown, but in autopsy series liver metastases are detected in up to 70% of cancer patients ( 1 , 2 ).
