ABSTRACT
Another common goal of construction measures may be to guarantee operational safety and to reduce the required amount of maintenance. Typical construction measures for these purposes include the localized waterproofing and drainage of water so that damage to railway installations can be prevented and/or to prevent the protrusion of ice into the clearance envelope. Furthermore, refurbishment measures also have a preventative character against advancing damage to structural materials.
