ABSTRACT
A stabilized sludge is not unlike a hard soil or soft rock. It is only the very high values of void ratio that are uncommon in such geomaterials. Mechanical characterization may therefore start by using the experimental methods and conceptual tools employed for soils or soft rocks. In the case of Jarofix, Arroyo et al. (2005a) describe several such experimental campaigns on block samples obtained at a disposal site in Spain.
