ABSTRACT

In order to come up with cutting edge innovations, it is becoming increasingly important to have control over and insight in the behavior of the granular materials in industrial processes. Typically the phenomena at hand are poorly understood in a quantitative way and their control relies heavily on the heuristic knowledge and experience of system engineers whose most common approach is the trial and error procedure. With the ever increasing computational power/price ratio it has become feasible to tackle these problems in a more systematic way by means of numerical simulations. The natural approach is to apply a Granular Dynamics (GD) simulation.1
