ABSTRACT

One of literature's few unbreakable rules is simply this: Without conflict there is no drama. The degree of conflict can vary; it can be as earth-shaking as a world war, as futile as a religious mas sacre over a minor heresy, or as slight as an argument over an umpire's decision-but it had better be there. A scene without conflict is like oatmeal without salt or spaghetti without sauceflat and inedible.
