ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the basics of where to begin if you want to support your clients to bring dreams to their sessions with you. Many of these same techniques can be used to explore your own dreams, a practice that is invaluable for learning the language of dreamwork. Working with your dreams on your own, or better yet with a group, partner or therapist, is the best way to learn dreamwork and to develop a genuine appreciation for the depth and ingenuity of dreams. What follows is practical information for anyone with an interest in working with dreams, including how to recall and record them, and something even more basic as a prerequisite to dreaming: getting a good nights’ sleep! The current sleep and dream deprivation crisis is explored, along with potential solutions.
