ABSTRACT

This is a summary chapter for this volume which brings together the insights and learnings from each of the chapters. It describes the linkages between Positive Psychology, Positive Education literature, well-being, Social Emotional Learning and the building of resilience through the development of a range of skills, such as coping, that have applications for parents, teachers and children. Positive Psychology focuses on aspects of development that are not cognitive alone but addresses aspects that relate to Social Emotional Learning. These aspects of education have become increasingly more relevant in schooling for the future with curriculum requirements being articulated in many educational jurisdictions.
