ABSTRACT

This chapter points to the Nursian solution for the secularization of knowledge and life through filtering secular ideology and acquiring truth, wisdom, and virtue in pursuit of knowledge. The chapter delves into the epistemic foundation of the mânâ-i harfî perspective. It reveals Nursi’s phenomenological approach in searching for truth and certainty of transcendent knowledge using the transcendent self. It is based on the assumption that the transcendental self, not empiricism, is the key to the truth and ultimate reality. It explores certainty, objectivity, and subjectivity of scientific vs. transcendent knowledge based on the mânâ-i harfî approach. It ends with the discussion on causation, causality, and scientific knowledge from the mânâ-i harfî perspective.
