ABSTRACT
China is a region with a high incidence of geological disasters. However, geological disaster prevention and security education is often neglected, and people’s ability to respond to geological and natural disasters is low. To enhance people’s awareness of geological and natural disasters, especially the awareness of earthquake safety, we must attach importance to the education of earthquake safety. The purpose of this paper is to discuss how to construct a digital seismological science museum using modern information technology, especially Virtual Reality (VR) technology. Firstly, the basic concept of VR and its application are introduced. Then, the propagation procedures of popular science knowledge about earthquakes and earthquake disasters are explored. Finally, according to the mode of VR construction, the application of VR technology to seismological scientific knowledge is established. The result of this paper is beneficial to the construction of an advanced VR seismological science museum.
