ABSTRACT

H ave you ever planted a flower garden? If you have, did you think about what you wanted your garden to look like, visualizing it in green, growing glory, fresh with dew in the early morning and fragrant with blossoms in the warmth of a summer afternoon? Did you plan your flowers by variety and color and growth pattern, so that something would always be blooming and so that colors would “pop”? Or perhaps you are a less planning-oriented gardener, picking what catches your eye at the nursery or in the garden section of a discount store, thinking about price or hardiness or simply what is easiest to plant and care for?
