ABSTRACT

The estimated number of visually impaired people in the world is 285 million. Applications have made life simpler for a number of individuals with blindness or those diagnosed with visual impairment. Various equipment, such as Braille, reading glass, or a walking stick, are only a portion of a couple of things that assist such individuals in their lives. With the advancement of technology, a common android smartphone equipped with specific applications can aid the visually impaired and blind to carry out their tasks. Voice-over features available on smartphones are of a distinct advantage, conceding the same access to the digital world of visually impaired users just like everyone else. The “Lifestyle App for the Visually Impaired” applies algorithms used in the framework of modern-day technologies like optical character recognition (OCR), principal component analysis (PCA) for face recognition, and deep convolutional neural network (CNN) used in Tensorflow with some modifications for object detection and recognition.
