ABSTRACT

The final chapter summarizes the analysis of previous chapters. This research shows that anger is a central theme uniting Hausa women’s narratives. Prominent among the anger themes analyzed are forced marriage, polygyny, pulaaku, honor, anger metaphors and love. The result of this research highlights that love is not the most significant force behind these women’s narratives; rather, it can be viewed as a superficial template some female Hausa authors employ to highlight problems affecting women in Hausa society, including family life and the societal ills that harm women. This research posits the relevance of other themes shown earlier by affirming the need to redefine how these genres are identified. Furthermore, this section pans out to assess the voices of women in Hausa society whose voices are not heard because they are not writers, even though they are also as much the victims as the protagonists found in this contemporary genre.
