ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a descriptive account of the demographic and practical survey questionnaire data results and provides the cross-tabulated and multi-variate analysis results through which the theoretical postulates and explores the objectives in an ‘embedded’ context. It aims to make the questionnaire and video vignette data analysis, contextually meaningful. The outcomes of the statistical analysis of the Vignette Rating Scale were particularly revealing. Pinderhughes and d’Ardenne and Mahatani have argued that, for an appropriate delivery of counselling service to Black clients, the counsellor should have an awareness of how racism informs and affects themselves as individuals, the society they live in and the social and emotional impact of ‘race’ and racism on Black people. There are a number of theoretical postulates which follow from the reviewed theory and research which guided the empirical study that will be associated with the research objectives.
