ABSTRACT
There is an increasing demand for various specialty oil field chemicals (OFC) since there is a need to tap more oil from the existing reserves. OFC are classified into three main groups, according to their applications as follows:
1. Drilling fluids 2. Cementing and stimulation 3. Oil production chemicals
In this chapter, we will limit our discussion to the third group, oil production chemicals, which are used at all stages, in the oil field from wellhead to finished products including oil production at the well bore, gas-oil separation, and oil and gas treatment all the way through to the delivery end points of both quality oil and gas products.
