ABSTRACT

The parting agents (oils) are used to prevent sticking of the hot asphalt mix to the steel parts of any machinery. Their chemical properties and characteristics are tested in laboratory by standardized test methods. Are these characteristics usable in real practice? Hardly. How can we verify their efficiency by simple methods, without using costly and technically complex devices? In this article, three non-standardized simple test methods are described in order to choose the optimal oil for the asphalt paving team.
