ABSTRACT

Public places and their accessibility are the basic prerequisites for integrating people into the society. Even though legal regulations create conditions to remove barriers for handicapped people, one of the biggest obstacles preventing independent and safe movement of the handicapped are architectural barriers in traffic infrastructure. These are the most significant obstacles that prevent free movement of handicapped people. Public spaces must be designed based on knowledge and subsequent securing of usage conditions in terms of independent movement and navigation of people, namely visually impaired individuals.
