ABSTRACT

The objective of the presented research is to compare the performance of the beams reinforced with steel and GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) reinforcement supplied by local producer. The shear resistance of the beams was verified through a load test. Together 26 beams with the length of 1.5 m were tested. Along with the testing of the beams the strength and deformation characteristics of the applied materials were measured. The concrete strength was determined on three cubic and cylinder specimens, the elastic modulus was examined on three prisms. The steel and GFRP reinforcement bars were subjected to a tensile strength measurement. Based on the results of the experiment, the comparison of different predictions for shear resistance was carried out.
