ABSTRACT

Recently, there has been a lot of development in prefab facade elements and systems for both renovation purposes and new buildings. Prefab systems possess many advantages; construction speed is one of the most important benefits. In the case study of a non-residential building, three variants of selected prefab façade systems are compared to each other. The Building Information Modelling (BIM) enables optimization of façade design already at the time of conceptual building designing. To compare the different façade systems in terms of construction time, construction cost, design aspect and thermal comfort, 3D BIM models of façade designs were created. The results of the comparative study are presented and discussed in the paper.
