ABSTRACT

In the promise that technology may be the answer to demographic regression in developed countries and to healthcare shortages, the insertion of robots in healthcare is increasing. Personal care robots help patients, elderly, and disabled people in their daily needs, either in the hospital or at home. They may enhance a person’s physical capabilities and may help nurses take care of patients better. However, it is not always guaranteed that healthcare technology results in better value in care. In this section, I introduce the topic of this book and its structure.
