ABSTRACT

Students may remember a lesson for a long time, but they will remember some of their teachers forever. They remember the ones who cared, the ones who were silly, the ones who tried to connect with students, the ones who always seemed to love their job. They remember the ones who brought kindness, humor, and joy to the classroom. When you ask a student what their favorite class is, their answer usually has nothing to do with the subject; it has to do with the teacher. Any administrator or counselor who has been involved with the course selection process that middle and high-school students go through understands the pivotal role that teachers play in this process. Oftentimes, students will sign up for certain courses simply because of who they know will be teaching them. Students quickly pick up on the reputation of certain teachers.
