ABSTRACT

The chapter examines some of the reasons behind the growing demand for coaching, and how the use of technology in coaching provides an alternative model to presence coaching, allowing flexibility and scalability. It analyses the meaning and different forms of digital coaching, its advantages and challenges. It proposes that digital coaching is not necessarily a second-best solution as compared to traditional, presence coaching, but it can be an equally viable mode of coaching. The practical value of digital coaching and the positive evidence regarding its viability justify the purpose of the book, which is to understand the role of digital media in the coaching experience and how the digital coach can cope with challenges that arise when adding technology.
