ABSTRACT

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) is an important legume vegetable crop grown in tropics and subtropics region across the globe. The crop is used mainly as vegetable which is a major source of protein and fiber. The crop is severely challenged by different pathogens, including fungi, bacteria, and viruses and is well adapted to stress and has excellent nutritional qualities. Diseases caused by pathogens such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, and parasitic plants are major constraints to profitable cowpea production. Integrated management, such as host plant resistance, agronomic practices, biological control, judicious use of fungicides, pesticides for vector control, biopesticides for pathogen control, can be applied complementarily at farmers’ field to provide them maximum economic return.
