ABSTRACT

The simplest way of measuring one’s attitude is to ask him to rate his strength by himself. This can be done by constructing a scale by using summated scaling method or equal interval scaling method. In this method of measuring one’s attitude is by presenting him with a number of attitude statements of varying intensity. Reliability is the consistency of a set of measurements or of a measuring instrument, often used to describe a test. There are several general classes of reliability estimates: test–retest reliability that includes intrarater reliability, internal consistency reliability, inter-rater reliability, and inter-method reliability. It is the variation in measurements taken by a single person or instrument on the same items and under the same conditions. Thus, the test–retest method consists in submitting a group of individuals to a particular test and compiling their respective scores. When items are used to form a scale, they need to have interval consistency.
