ABSTRACT
Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP) is writing a new mythology on Broadway. With the financial backing of the Walt Disney Corporation, DTP is able to function as a sole producer, owning all the risk and reaping all the rewards, despite the rising costs of producing large-scale productions on Broadway. DTP has created a new model of Broadway producing. The production of The Jungle Book points to another interesting and unique ability of DTP. As of 2019, Disney Theatrical Productions has been on Broadway for 25 years. The company is no longer the idealistic child of the Great White Way but has grown up to become a more seasoned young adult. The shows produced by DTP, like all theatre, have the power to transport, transform, and start conversations across perceived barriers. DTP offers, attending a DTP production is an extraordinary experience.
