ABSTRACT
This brief chapter underlines the circumstances and forces at work that influenced Abdullah to sign an accord with the Indian prime minister, Indira Gandhi, and to disown the plebiscite movement. I have also critically examined the terms of the 1975 Accord and its impact on the future course of politics in the state. Also, a brief description about the response to the accord has also been given.
