ABSTRACT

Under the letter “R,” in the American Encyclopedia, occurs the word “Rosicrucian,” followed by—” Members of a Society, the existence of which became unexpectedly known at the beginning of the seventeenth century. The Rosicrucians, Pythians, and Brotherhood of Eulis are a body of good men, and true, working under a Grand Lodge Charter, deriving its power and authority from the Imperial Dome of the Third Supreme Temple of the Order. As a consequence of traveling on the royal road to knowledge, the Rosicrucian and Eulian soon learn to despise the weakness of wickedness, not by reason of any long-faced cant being poured into their ear, but because they find practically that virtue is a safe investment, while badness or meanness wont pay. Usually the Lodges of Eulis meet once in a week to hear lectures, exchange courtesies, thoughts, news, to listen to invited guests, and debate questions.
