ABSTRACT

The realities of today’s education profession are brought to light, and education malpractices are juxtaposed against social justice and evidence-based practices. Teacher shortages, school psychologist shortages, and other staffing issues impact decisions made at schools and potentially impact delivery of services to students and access to evidence-based programming. Education leaders must be comfortable with controlled chaos, and must invest in resources to build a solid foundation for multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). A solid foundation must be built in alignment with the LIQUID Model, and must ensure that the program is implemented with fidelity and that triangulation is used in making data-based decisions. Oftentimes overcorrection can be used to reinforce and re-teach practices at the school level and a growth model can be used to measure student growth over time in response to the research-based interventions provided.
