ABSTRACT
In this chapter we consider the linearized version of Einstein's field equation, where the spacetime metric field is assumed to be slightly perturbed away from the Lorentz metric. We already considered such a procedure in Section 15.2, where we treated the static case for nonrelativistic speeds for the purposes of identifying the constant κ. Here we undertake a more systematic analysis of the linearized field equation and its numerous consequences.
