The following narrative I have written down just as I received it from the lips of a very intelligent and worthy colored man, a subscriber to the Standard. I have thought it prudent to suppress names and dates, lest some innocent person might be brought into trouble. No one who knows the narrator (and he is known and respected by many) will have any doubt of the truth of his statements:
