ABSTRACT

William Dixon was arrested on the 4th of 4th month, 1837, by virtue of a writ of habeas corpus, founded on the oath of Doctor Walter P. Allender, of the city of Baltimore, that he was his slave, and had absconded from his service, in April, 1832. He was taken before the Recorder, Richard Riker. ___Phenix and John A. Morrill, attended as counsel for the claimant, and Horace Dresser on behalf of Dixon.
