ABSTRACT

The final chapter focuses on ways in which certain emotions play an important role in distinctively human lives and activities. I will examine the various connections between emotions and morality, and between emotions and art. In each case, the importance of emotion to our thinking and acting in these spheres will be explained. This is not to say that emotions will always tend to make us act well, or will necessarily enhance our understanding of literature, cinema, music, and art. But it is to say that without emotion, our moral and aesthetic lives would be severely impoverished.
