ABSTRACT

The editors examine what can be learned from the projects as a whole to advance the field and improve how professional practice in the informal science learning sector. We conclude that reflective practice is about solving problems and making change; in a community, it allows for multiple viewpoints in making change; it challenges institutional norms including the power to change practices; and, it is sustained through understanding the culture of informal science learning workplaces. The current status of the six projects is described.
